How clients Describe our coaching

"You can trust Rebecca to be both honest and gentle, firm and compassionate. Thanks to our conversations, I was finally able to begin writing my new book project and to be more proactive in proposing projects and to reconnect to the intellectual pleasures afforded by academic work." -A.K.

"If you're reading this, you should work with Rebecca at Root. I had never done this kind of coaching work, and I wasn't sure it would be worth it. It has been totally worth it! Rebecca has great ideas, but she starts with questions and listening. Her skilled approach also sparks me to have ideas so that I am also leading my own development work. It feels like we're a real team. It also feels like the VIP in the room, for once, is me!"

FAQ's

What's the difference between coaching and therapy?  Coaching looks forward toward what you want to create in the world, how you want to maximize your potential, and ways to shift from where you are to where you want to be. In coaching, much of the work happens in between sessions when the client is experimenting with new habits, thoughts, and actions, journaling/thinking through questions that arose in coaching, and noticing/observing changes. Therapy often looks back at the roots of challenges you encounter now. In my coaching, I do not directly work on mental health challenges, addiction, or trauma, as a therapist would.

How do you charge for coaching? I invoice monthly, and clients sign up for a 6- or 12-month coaching engagement. This enables my clients to create sustainable change. I do not offer single sessions because I don't find this to be an effective method for transformation.

Can you guarantee outcomes? NOPE. The client is responsible for the work in between sessions, for coming to sessions ready with a topic to dive into, for making decisions about their own life. Please be wary of any coach that offers guaranteed outcomes.

How should I choose the right coach for me? I'm not the right coach for everyone. When researching coaches, it's important to find someone whose approach resonates with you and with whom you feel comfortable. It is crucial to be able to trust your coach fully and know they want the absolute best for you (even when coaching gets challenging).

What is your background?  I'm a professional executive & leadership coach and the founder of Root Coaching & Consulting, LLC. I have a degree in law, as well as my CPCC and ACC coaching certifications. Before starting my own business, I worked in education policy at non-profit organizations and the U.S. Department of Education.

How do I know if I should try coaching?  If you're asking this question, chances are you're motivated to make a CHANGE. Your first session with me is completely free (Book here).  It will give you a good insight into whether you can see yourself moving forward with coaching as well as if we are a good fit.

More client love

"I had been struggling for about six months with a big life decision I wanted to make and was looking for some support and guidance in exploring my resistance, concerns, and logistics of making this decision. In just one hour, Rebecca helped me overcome what was holding me back in making this decision and helped me work through the overwhelming feelings I had about making this change a reality. After our session, I felt like I had a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders and a clear frame of mind to move forward. Rebecca provides a warm and supportive environment to share deeply and welcomes emotions as part of her coaching process. I am grateful to Rebecca for helping me claim what I want for my life."
